WHO WE ARE

A community of faith.
A commitment to dignity.

We are the South African Network of Religious Leaders Living with or Personally Affected by HIV & AIDS — SANERELA+.

Established in 2006 and registered as a nonprofit organisation in 2007, SANERELA+ brings together lay and ordained religious leaders across faith traditions. As South Africa’s chapter of INERELA+, we connect local action with a wider international network.

Our work sits at the meeting point of faith, public health and social justice. We equip religious leaders to confront stigma, support positive living and build communities where people are welcomed, heard and respected.

HIV CLM Project & Community Monitors

Global Fund Community-led monitoring (CLM) for HIV is an evidence-based approach in which networks of people living with HIV, key populations and local civil society organisations systematically gather, analyse and respond to real-time data on HIV service delivery.

SANERELA+ has entered into a contract with the Centre for Communicative Impact (CCI), on behalf of the SANAC CSF PLHIV Sector. Approximately 15 community monitors are collecting survey data across seven districts in South Africa.
